Solo Sunday in Las Vegas. Only one bracelet was awarded on Sunday, but it occurred in one of the biggest events of the weekend... the PLO Donkament. With the Milly Maker and The Giant underway, the $565 buy-in PLO bracelet event almost went unnoticed. This massive PLO event attracted the loosest donks in the Northern hemisphere.
Tyler Smith, a semi-pro from Mississippi, faded a gigantic field of 3,186 runners to win his first bracelet and get the moniker of PLO Donk Slayer! It's not an official title, but one I made up on the spot.
Smith outlasted a tough final table. Plenty of noteworthy names (e.g. Jesus, E-Fro, and Lindgren) went deep in this event, but none of them could make the final nine.
Event #18 $565 PLO - Final Results
Tyler Smith won a WSOP Circuit ring back in 2008 down in New Orleans. He's been on a cash game route since then, but he broke a two-year hiatus from tournaments to take a shot at the PLO Donkament. He wasn't 100% sure he could support himself and his family playing poker, which is why he diversified his earnings into different revenue streams. Smith dabbles in the real estate market and owns a restaurant in Mississippi. Despite his various businesses, poker is where his heart is.
Smith defeated a player named Stockfish heads-up for the PLO bracelet. You really can't make this stuff up, but heads-up lasted only one hand. Yup. Inside of two hands, Smith knocked out third place and second place.
Jason Stockfish settled on a runner-up finish that was worth $138K payday. Tyler Smith won $224K for first place.
Tyler Smith's final table also included Canadian Scott Davies and Belgium's Yves Kupfermunz.
Joe Beevers from Hendon Mob fame went deep, but busted in 14th place and missed a spot at the final table.
Other notables who went deep in this PLO donkament included... Wing Wong, Adam Owen, JC Tran, Cody Slaubaugh, E-Fro, Ryan D'Angelo, Andreas Krause, Will the Thrill, Lee Watkinson, Rep Porter, Martin Kozlov, Erick Lindgren, Joey Ingram, Cliff Fisher, and Jesus Ferguson.
