Atlantis in the Bahamas is the current hot spot for the poker world. At least it will be for the next couple of days while the 2019 PCA winds down to a close. It really didn't matter what happened in the Main Event because PokerStars crushed the Players Championship in terms of numbers and overall fun.
The $10K Main Event is the anchor event for the PCA. This year's affair attracted 865 total entries. The prize pool was nearly $8.4 million, but only the top 127 players were paid out.
Tommy Nguyen bagged up the big stack with a shade over 2.7M. Jeff Hakim was second with 2.64M and Daniel Strelitz was right behind with 2.61M. Matthias Eibinger shipped a high roller at the EPT Prague and he was coming in hot. Eibinger finished Day 3 with a little under 2.5M, which was good for fifth overall.
American Brian Altman is fifth overall with 1.7M. Two more Yanks, Chino Rheem and Matt Berkey, were not far behind with 1.5M. Whenever Chino goes deep it makes headlines. He has the finishing skills, but can he pull off a final table at the PCA?
Also still alive at the PCA Main Event... Mihai Manole, Pavel Veksler, Christoph Vogelsang, Scott Wellenbach, Enrico Camosci, Vincent Bosca, Simon Deadman, Rajesh Vohra, Ami Barer, Badih Bounahra, Marc-Andre Ladouceur, and short stack Danny Tang. The bottom five bagged up fewer than 600K in chips.
Andre Akkari busted late on Day 3. The Brazilian pro hit the bricks in 24th place. France's Pierre Calamusa went deep, but he was picked off in 25th place. Also hitting the rail late on Day 3 were.... Conor Beredford, Dzmitry Urbanovich, Scott Clements, and Byron Kaverman. PokerStars own Randy Lew and Anthony Zinno made it to the Top 50, but busted shortly after.
Other notables who cashed were Elliot Smith, Ben Yu, Jimmy Guerrero, Mike Leah, Matt Glantz, Sam Greenwood, Michael Gathy, Kristen Bicknell, Kenny Hallaert, Paul Leckey, Ryan Riess, Robert Mizrachi, Davidi Kitai, Ivan Luca, Bruno Lopes, Andjelko Andrejevic, Noah Schwartz, JC Alavrado, Shaun Deeb, Joe Cada, Niall Farrell, and Sam Grafton.
