With live poker's future still a huge risk in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the World Series of Poker moved the 2020 WSOP online with 85 online bracelets up for grabs on either WSOP's online site or at GGPoker. On July 1, WSOP.com will host 31 gold bracelet online events to players in Nevada and New Jersey with one per day during the month. Starting July 19, GGPoker will host 50-plus online events for the rest of the world.

It's official. The 2020 World Series of Poker is heading online this summer. The WSOP decided to host 85 bracelet events on two different online poker websites. Americans and the rest of the world have chances to secure a gold bracelet in 85 events split between WSOP.com and GGPoker.
Instead of the running of the donks at the Rio Casino, there will be a running of the online donks with the WSOP Online at GGPoker and WSOP.com. And you know how fishy those virtual waters can get. So many fish, sheep, donks, emus, wombats, and other aquatic bottom feeders will be flooding to the virtual poker tables for a shot at cash and gold bling.
It's all about the bling right?
You can now win a virtual bracelet and not have to think twice and have a panic attack about boarding a plane to Las Vegas, and then you will not have to worry about the false sense of security with all those “washing stations” put up everywhere, or worry about having to passing a temperature check if you happen to be running a little hot that day (especially in 110+ weather).
The 2020 WSOP Online bracelet bonanza is a true blessing so you do not have to worry about sidestepping all of shithoused drunks, dodging projectile vomiting from White Claw drenched Beckys and Kaylas, avoid the infected slots zombies, and other novel virus asymptomatic carriers degening it up in Sin City during the middle of a global pandemic.
During the entire month of July, the WSOP will host at least one bracelet event per day. At least 31 gold bracelets are at stake at WSOP.com. Now, there is a catch... you have to be present within the state limits of New Jersey or Nevada in order to play in one of those WSOP.com events. But hey, a trip to New Jersey or Nevada is still doable for you right? Just rent an AirBnB in Tahoe or down the Jersey shore and then play from home and not have to worry about carry a jug of hand sanitizer into the Rio Casino and have to worry if any of the other players without masks actually washed their hands that morning.
"It wouldn't be Summer without WSOP," said Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker. "While we are thrilled to be reopening our venues and optimistic about future offline events, we couldn't be more excited about deepening our relationship with GGPoker and watching some history unfold online this summer."
GGPoker, the latest hip online poker site du jour, will be hosting WSOP gold bracelet events starting July 19. The 2020 WSOP Online schedule for GGPoker is still TBA/TBD. Stay tuned for specifics and details, but GGPoker will have at least 50 or so events. Not too shabby, eh?
"There's nothing in the world like winning a WSOP bracelet," said GGPoker ambassador and pitchman, Daniel Negreanu. "Bringing this experience online will open the door for a new generation of poker players to feel the rush of competing for the game's biggest prize."
Last month, GGPoker crushed it with the WSOP Circuit Online. They awarded $134.7 million in prizes (which smushed the $100K guarantee). The WSOP Circuit Online Main Event had over 10K entrants with first place winning $1.2 million.
The 2020 WSOP is still scheduled for later this fall, but who knows if that will actually happen? Stay tuned for more details.
