Do it for the people! The 2020 World Series of Poker Online continued at GGPoker with the final leg of events. A couple of People's Choice events played out this week. In one event, the bracelet format was determined by the universe and the spin of the wheel. In the other, the pros stuck to an old-school format... straight-up NL freezeout.
The WSOP Online Main Event has yet to determine a winner with 38 players remaining that will resume action on Saturday in the richest online tournament of all time. The $25K Heads Up Championship is down to four, including Fedor Holz, and they'll also play out to a champ on Friday.
But for now, the people had a say... sort of... in the last few bracelet events on the WSOP Online docket.
The WSOP Online People's Choice Pros at GGPoker was determined by professionals who took a no-frills NL approach. Event #80 attracted 2,408 runners to the $600 buy-in NL affair. The top 250 places paid out in Event #80. First place paid out nearly $190K out of the $1.37 million prize pool.
The final table for Event #80 People's Choice included... Jeffrey Dobrin, Idris Ambraisse, Vahe Martirosyan, Joao Santos, Marc MacDonnell, Sergio Veloso, Arvhin Malinab, Hiroki Morishita, and Jesus Ferguson.
The bracelet in the People's Choice came down to France vs America heads-up battle in Event #80. Dorbin the American came out on top. France's Idris Ambraisse busted in second place, which paid out $144,998 for a runner-up finish. Not too shabby, eh?
Dorbin won the bracelet and banked $189,666.
In the next People's Choice event, the wheel spun and landed on a Bounty KO event. WSOP Online Event #81 $1,500 NL Bounty 6-Handed attracted 1,925 players and a prize pool that feel short of $2 million at $1.95M. The top 278 places paid out with $104K set aside to the champion.
Michelle 'hu4trollzz' Shah just missed out on the final table when she busted in ninth place. Pavel Plesuv also went deep but saw his fate end in 8th place. Israel's Itai 'PokerSmart' Drory bubbled the official final table in seventh place.
Notable players that went deep in Event #81 People's Choice included... Jon Santos, Javier Fernandez, Johnnie Walker, Rommaso Briotti, Jie Wu, Ashish Gupta, Dan Colpoys, and Sergi Reixbach.
The final table of six included... Nicolo 'Paquitooo' Molinelli, Kyle 'Eskimo Bro' Menard, Lukas "rustyhusky" Hafner, Longyun "Mr Li" Li, Sami Kelopuro, and Aleksandr "Srinavasan" Grishchuk.
It was Italy and Canada fighting for the bling in Event #81. Italy was the winner and last player standing when Nicolo 'Paquitooo' Molinelli picked off Kyle 'Eskimo Bro' Menard in second place. Eskimo Brobanked $104,644 for second place plus almost $24K in bounties. Not too shabby, eh?
