American pro Jeremy Ausmus becomes the third player this summer to join the WSOP Six Timer Club when he took down 2023 WSOP Online Event #8 $3,200 NL High Roller for a $360,036 score. Brazil's Yuri Dzivielevski picked up a third bracelet when he outlasted 836 runners for a victory in Event #47 $1,500 HORSE. Texan Lou Garza banked $1.3 million and won his first bracelet by shipping WSOP Event #50 $10,000 PLO Championship.
Another wild weekend in Las Vegas. The 2023 WSOP continued at the Paris and Horseshoe Casinos on the Strip and there's now been almost 50 bracelets doled out. Several pros added their names to the history books an additional time, while several first-time winners were able to bask in the glory.
2023 WSOP Online Event #8 $3,200 NL High Roller attracted 321 entrants and a prize pool of $1,489,600. The top 54 places paid out with $360K to the champion. Jeremy Ausmus playing under the moniker "ChipChecka" held off a final table that also Chance Kornuth and Koray Aldemir.
Ausmus won his first bracelet at the 2013 WSOP Europe when he won the €1,650 PLO event. It took him eight more years before he returned to the winner's circle when he won two bracelets at the pandemic-delayed 2021 WSOP. He took down the Covid-19 Relief NL Charity Event and the $50,000 PLO High Roller. Last summer, Ausmus won two more bracelets with a victory in $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed and an online bracelet in $365 NL.
Ausmus, Shaun Deeb, and Brian Rast joined the ranks of the Six Timer Club. The trio were able to secure bracelet victories this summer and join the exclusive club of six-time WSOP champions.
WSOP Event #47 $1,500 HORSE attracted 836 runners and a prize pool worth more than $1.1 million. The top 126 places paid out and Yuri Dzivielevski emerged the victor to secure a third bracelet victory. He held off Randy Ohel heads up for the bling and denied Frankie O'Dell from stepping into the winner's circle.
Event #49 $1,500 Super Turbo Bounty is one of those rapid-fire events that was completed in a single day. Pengfei Wang outlasted 2,226 runners who generated a prize pool worth $2.97 million.
Event #50 $10,000 PLO Championship attracted 731 entrants and a prize pool worth $6,798,300. Only the top 110 places paid out. Among the notables who went deep and cashed included Sam Soverel, Dylan Weisman, Juha Helppi, Ren Lin, Sean Winter, Sonny Franco, Allan Le, Anthony Zinno, Scott Bohlman, Alex Foxen, Bruno Fitoussi, Nick Schulman, Jonathan Borenstein, Erik Seidel, Justin Young, Uri Reichenstein, Dan Smith, Jesse Lonis, Bryce Yockey, Taylor Paur, and Brett Richey.
The dynamic duo from Ohio -- Satoshi Tanaka and Michael Savakinas -- shipped the tag-team bracelet and won $95,331 each. Event #51 $1,000 NL Tag Team attracted 1,282 entries and a prize pool worth $1.14 million.
Event #52 $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball attracted 353 runners and a prize pool worth $785K. Nick Pupillo won his first bracelet for a $181,978 score. Pupillo won three WSOP Circuit rings but he finally added a bracelet to his jewelry collection. Aaron Mermelstein finished in third place, and Ryan Moriarty was the runner up.
