Double digits. The 2024 WSOP Main Event has now dipped into double digits after another brutal day of poker for Day 6. On Day 5, the field went from 464 to 160. On Day 6, that number dwindled from 160 to 59. On Day 6, there was a noticeable pay jump into the six figures range with the Top 125 players locking up at least $100K. Day 6's payout ladder ascended multiple rungs from $70K to $85K to $100K to $120K to $140K to $160K for places 54 to 62.
Among the bustouts on Day 6 included... Tony Dunst, Carlos Caldas, Danny Tang, Marc Wolpert, Biao Ding, Sami Bechahed, Merijn Van Rooij, Joe Tehan, Dimitri Joubert, Nicolas Vayssieres, Valentin Oberhauser, Clement Van Driessche, Emilien Pitavy, and Laurent Manderlier.
Orson Young was one of the first players to head north of 20M in chips. He was the chip leader at dinner break. Ireland's Charles Russell was second overall and close by with 18.7M at the break.
With 84 to go, only 18 players had stacks over 10M and a dozen other players were short with 2M or lower. By the end of the night, 20M would be the new milestone and seven players would bag up at least 20M.
