Save the date! The 2024 WSOP Paradise will take place over two weeks on Paradise Island in the Bahamas starting December 6 and running through December 19. This second installment of the WSOP Paradise will be hosted at the newly renovated Atlantis Resort, and the $25,000 Super Main Event will have a $50 million guarantee.
Get ready for some sun, sand, and poker. The Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas had become the place to be in January when PokerStars hosted their annual PCA. The Red Spade and Atlantis had parted ways after a long-term partnership, but now it's the WSOP and the Atlantis teamed up to bring you high-stakes poker and bracelet events at the end of the calendar year.
Moments after Joathan Tamayo shipped the 2024 WSOP Main Event, the suits at the WSOP announced that the WSOP Paradise will return and they would be hosting a Super Main Event at the Bahamas with a $25K buy-in and a $50 million guaranteed prize pool. This marquee event will headline the second running of the WSOP Paradise. The official schedule has yet to be released, but the suits want you to clear your schedule in December.
Starting on December 6, the 2024 WSOP Paradise begins at Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. This series will be doling out bracelets through December 19 with multiple high roller events and buy-ins ranging from $2,500 to $1 million. Yes, that's correct. A cool million. Not too shabby, eh?
"The action we saw during the WSOP summer series is a testament to the health of poker, particularly for high-roller tournaments," said Executive Director of the WSOP and poker marketing GOAT Ty Stewart. "Last year was no one-time gimmick. We're thrilled GGPoker has reaffirmed their commitment to building WSOP Paradise through the biggest guarantee in poker history."
Yes, the inaugural WSOP Paradise felt like a gimmick event, and the kind of half-baked idea that bros in the marketing department came up with during an extended boozy lunch. The 2023 WSOP Paradise at Atlantis featured 15 bracelet events, but was not a bust nor a flash in the pan. Germany's Stanislav Zegal binked the $5,000 buy-in 2023 WSOP Paradise Main Event for a $2 million score. And even Erik Seidel got in on the action when he took down the $50K High Roller to finally win bracelet #10. Thanks to some run good in the Bahamas, Seidel joined the rare double-digits club with the likes of Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, and Hellmuth.
It's unknown how many events will be on this 2024 WSOP Paradise docket, but it's safe to say there will be at least 15 events including the Super Main Event.
GGPoker partnered up with the WSOP once again and they will be the main satellite feeder for the $25,000 buy-in Super Main Event. It doesn't take a solver or even an MIT grad to know that a $50 million guarantee for a $25K event needs only 2,000 players to break even. GGPoker is already running satellites.
"This is one you can't miss," said Daniel Negreanu, GGPoker Global Ambassador. "There were a lot of learnings from year one and everything is going to be bigger and better. A $50 million guarantee in the Bahamas! Are these guys crazy?"
"We are thrilled to welcome back WSOP Paradise players, guests, and fans for the second year to Atlantis Paradise Island, the entertainment capital of the Caribbean," said Joe Brunini, Chief Gaming and Customer Development Officer at Atlantis Paradise Island. "This monumental tournament offers attendees the opportunity to experience Atlantis' $150 million renovation, including the opulent Atlantis Casino, Bar Sol, The Royal Towers, and several new dining options. See you in Paradise!"
