The first-ever PokerStars Stadium Series came to an end with the Grand Final. The three-tiered buy-in event had buy-ins ranging from $55 to $530 to $5,200 and Brazilian players won two of the three. Best of all, the Grand Final was an old-school freeze out. In the Stadium Series Grand Final - $530 buy-in Medium, Caio 'Pessagno' Pessagno outlasted 4,234 runners and secured a three-way deal to win $266K. In the Stadium Series Grand Final - $5,200 buy-in High, Fernando 'fviana' Viana faded 971 runners to take down first place and $721,235 (also via a three-way deal).
Over the last month, PokerStars hosted the inaugural Stadium Series which included 106 tournaments and prize pools in excess of $55.4 million. The special sports-themed series started on July 4 abd concluded with the Grand Final, which had a $5 million guaranteed prize pool.
The LOW version of the Stadium Series Grand Final fetched a modest $55 buy-in. The low version of the Grand Final attracted 21,207 runners and a prize pool over $1.06 million. The top 3039 players were awarded prize money, but as expected all the cheesecake was at the final table with $109,293 set aside to the inevitable champ.
GotUrNuggets bubbled the Grand Final - Low final table in tenth place. The final table included Cheessseburger, 23lovecrew, Pocok85, Catholovisck, babecallme, GugstavoHG, mellov, Houtsteen, and peitschexx. The final three cut a money chop. Hungary's Pocok85 took third place, while 23lovecrew from Belarus finished in second place, which paid out a shade under $77K.
Cheessseburger from the Netherlands banked $96,029 for the LOW victory. They will have plenty of cash to buy as many cheeseburgers as they want.
The MEDIUM version of the Grand Final had a $530 buy-in, which attracted 4,234 runners and a prize pool in excess of $2.1 million. The top 511 places paid out with $302,259 set aside to the champ.
The MEDIUM final table included Caio 'Pessagno' Pessagno, JustPray, RB Tiger, digopapel, luckyluck653, hanji, ferdahouse, KKing James, The_Senseman.
The final three agreed upon a money deal. They chopped it up with second and third place banking nearly the same $202K or so. RB Tiger took third place, while JustPray busted in second place.
Caio 'Pessagno' Pessagno from Brazil won the whole shebang and banked $266,006 for the MEDIUM victory in the Grand Final.
The HIGH version of the Grand Final had a $5,200 buy-in and a $5 million guaranteed prize pool. The guarantee kicked in (overlay alert!) when they fell short of the mark with 971 runners. The Grand Final kicked it old school with just a single entry in the traditional freezeout format. The top 119 places paid out with $821,988 originally set aside to the champion.
Notables who went deep and cash in the Stadium Series Grand Final High included... RuiNF, milennial, radialot, gorodski, imluckbox, GM_VALTER, SirWatts, Connorseadog, apestyles, and TrueGeordieTG.
Perrymejsen from Sweden bubbled the final table in tenth place. The Grand Final - High final table of nine included Fernando 'fviana' Viana, Vlada2108, Maxime 'Daghemuneguu' Chilaud, serggorelyi7, Futti18, MarinkaHT, LeslieGroves, isscreamo, and Goallinfishara. Five Russians were at the final table, but the Brazilian emerged the victory.
The final three agreed on a money deal. Maxime 'Daghemuneguu' Chilaud busted in third place and locked up $570,219 per terms of the deal. That left Serbia's Vlada2108 and Brazil's fviana battling for the Grand Final title and lion's share of cash. Alas, Vlada2108 busted in second place and banked $553,931 for a runner-up score. Not too shabby, eh?
Vamoooos! Fernando 'fviana' Viana took down the first-ever Stadium Series Grand Final - High for a score worth $721,235. Even with a deal, that's still a sick score.
