Only seven players remain in the EPT13 Barcelona Main Event and seven different countries are represented. Germany's Uri Reichenstein had a slight lead over Holland's Thomas De Rooij in second place overall. British pro Adam Owen is third in chips. Also appearing at the final table… Sebastian Malec (Poland), Zorlu Er (Turkey), Andreas Chalkiadakis (Greece), and Harcharan Dogra Dogra (Spain). This record-setting field of 1,785 runners drew in a prize pool worth of €8.6 million. First place gets over €1.1 million. The champion will be declared on Sunday.
Down to seven in Barcelona. Which of the final seven will become this year's first winner on the EPT13 season (and its final season as well)? First place payday is worth over €1.1 million, which is still a big chunk out of the €8.6 million prize pool. This year's filed at the EPT Barcelona was 1,785 players deep, and it's remarkable the field was liquidated to seven in a mere five days of action.
When the dust settled at the end of Day 5, two players were vying for the top spot: Uri Reichenstein from Germany and Thomas De Rooij from the Netherlands. While those two slugged it out, British mixed-games specialist Adam Owen is lurking in third place.
Also still alive are Poland's Sebastian Malec, Zorlu Er from Turkey, Greece's Andreas Chalkiadakis, and Harcharan Dogra Dogra was repping the host country of Spain. The final seven locked up at least a seventh-place score worth €230,950. But everyone has their eye on the mountain of Euros that gets paid out for first place. The final table kicks off at 1pm local time in Barcelona.
