Kevin Hart, everyone's favorite comedian slash actor and poker player, recently signed a deal with party poker as their next celebrity pitchman and ambassador. Hart previously had a deal with PokerStars and now the funny man will be promoting partypoker.
Yeah, that guy from Jumanji is now stumping for partypoker. Kevin Hart is one of those guys that seems like he's everywhere. If you're into the comedy world, then you're aware of Kevin Hart's start as a comedian. He became a big-time actor and A-lister in Hollywood while racking up roles in comedies like Ride Along, Jumanji, and Ride Along. He even appeared in the "About Last Night" revamp.
Along the way, Kevin Hart picked up Texas Hold'em. And as a wise-cracking funny man, he man for great entertainment at the poker tables. It's no wonder that he was an ideal face and name to help pitch online poker.
"I'm here to party. I'm here to have a good time."
You gotta love a rich guy that shows up to a poker table with that attitude! The poker world needs more wealthy donors that would like to redistribute their wealth among the poker denizens.
Rob Young tweeted, "Happy my good friend @KevinHart4real is now official @partypoker partner. I was talking about partypoker ethos at cash game with him, @Andrew_Robl @BrokeLivingJRB & Kevin promised to help us promote poker to new/amateur players, so made him do this video to commit his ass!"
"Expect the world of poker to get a lot more fun. Expect it to get real, and expect us to get rid of all of the people that make it so fucking technical, man!"
Sweet. Kevin Hart is here to have fun and not play like a silent robot in a hoody and scarf that tanks for 7 minutes on every street.
So, what will Kevin Hart be doing exactly? Good question. We assume he'll appear in partypoker LIVE events and partypoker MILLIONS action. And of course, Kevin Hart will be playing online poker too? So long as it's outside of the USA, he can donk it up at the tables.
Hart, as Yong described, is an amateur highstakes player. Hart initially joined forces with PokerStars back in 2017 with the goal to make poker fun (again).
"I have bullied myself into a partnership with PokerStars," Hart told PokerStars Blog. "Why? Because I love the game. I'm deeply in love with the game. I've seen what the game is missing, and it's missing me."
Of course, once the deal ran its course, Hart bounced to other ventures. But now he's back to the online poker waters and a celebrity pitchman. This time, it's partypoker.
In the last few years, PokerStars revamped their sponsorship and ambassador roles. One by one, high profile pros and long-time ambassadors stepped aside. When Daniel Negreanu stepped down shortly before the start of the 2019 WSOP, you knew it was officially the end of the era.
At the start of the glorious online poker boom shortly after the turn of the century, online poker rooms relied on high profile pros and any poker playing celeb they could find to help out as a pitchwoman or pitchman during the extreme arms race among poker rooms.
In the 2010s, the marketing focus shifted away from traditional poker professionals and pivoted to streamers. The next wave of rockstars that the cool kids were into were YouTube and Twitch streamers. PokerStars became one of the first online poker sites to snatch up as much streamer talent in the streaming realm.
In the end, nothing beats a funny guy to help pitch your product. Right now, partypoker has a live one with Kevin Hart.
