Cue the Star Wars theme music. Say hello to the Galactic Series! A 186-event festival of cosmic jive online poker kicks off on Sunday August 26 for players in Southern Europe -- Spain, France, and Portugal. The Galactic Series has a total of €15 million in guaranteed prize pools with a Main Event that also has a €1.5 million guarantee. That's one heck of a way to usher in the newest era of gaming in Southern Europe. Too bad Italy has been dragging their feet with the coalition with Spain/France/Portugal because the Italians will be missing out on some dank prizes.
The Galactic Series begins on PokerStars this Sunday, August 26 and runs through September 13. Like most of popular series on PokerStars, the Galactic Series will feature various buy-ins for players of all bankroll sizes and skill. In total, there will be 186 events spanning 2 plus weeks of action.
The Main Event will be the marquee tournament for the Galactic Series. The Main Event has a modest buy-in of only €250, but PokerStars is hoping it will become the biggest tournament in the history of Southern Europe. There will be a €1.5 million guarantee.
PokerStars is introducing the Hercules starting on August 26! I know, it should have been more cosmic like the Yoda! But hey, the Hercules works because of its 12 schtick. You will have 12 starting flights or 12 chances to advance to Day 2 of The Hercules from August 26 through September 5. The Herc will have a €300K guarantee for everyone who makes it to Day 2. Oh and the best thing about the Hercules event? It only cost €20 to enter.
Rest assured, there's a lot of Turbo, Hyper, Bubble Rush and something called the Galactic Express. For progressive knockout fans, there's no shortage of PKO events including a Galaxy Deep Hyper PKO and Galaxy Deep Hyper 6-Max PKO. There's also 4-Max Turbos, BigStack Turbo, and 8-Max Turbo PKOs. Plus other events like the SuperStack, Win the Button, HU Championship, Sixth Sense, Big Ante 6-Max, 4-Max Turbo Rebuy, Classico, and Ultra KO.
As always, schedule is subject to change.
