The second week of action in the Global Poker League will feature a couple of marquee heads-up matches in the Americas Conference. The Montreal Nationals are looking to hold onto first place. This week's schedule will include Montreal Nationals vs. Sao Paulo Mets, New York Rounders vs. San Francisco Rush, and the Las Vegas Moneymakers vs. L.A. Sunset. The individual match-ups in the Americas are what everyone is talking about particularly the Jason Mercier (NY) vs. Phil Galfond (SF) battle, along with an anticipated matchup between Jonathan Duhamel (LV) and Olivier Busquet (LA). Cards go in the air for the first match starting at 1pm ET with bracelet winner Thiago Nishijima (Brazil) taking on Pascal LeFrancois (Montreal).

The Thursday tradition continues on the Global Poker League! On Wednesday, the EurAsian conference hosts their heads-up matches, while the Americas conference slug it out on Thursdays. The second week of action on the GPL features a couple of match ups that will definitely attract a slew of railbirds. Whenever Phil ‘OMGClayAiken' Galfond plays, he is always a huge draw. The Galfond fanboys come out of the woodwork in a cult-like following akin to the Grateful Dead's rabid fanbase, or rogue Mormons. Galfond is pitted against Jason Mercier in a battle of East Coast vs. West Coast. Will the New York Rounders prevail? Or will San Francisco dominate?
Although the Las Vegas Moneymakers are still seeking their first “win” they began the day only 2 points out of first place, trailing the Montreal Nationals (buoyed to first by their 2 victories in the first week). The final match of the day is also going to be a popular one for poker enthusiasts with former WSOP main event champion Jonathan Duhamel taking on Olivier Busquet, who is deep into his mixed-martial arts training regimen for an inevitable bout against J.C. Alavarado.
