At the end of the second week of 6-max matches in the Global Poker League, both the Montreal Nationals and the Paris Aviators are leading their respective divisions. Even though the Berlin Bears' Dominik Nitsche had a stellar day with a first-place victory and runner-up finish, Mike Leah from the Paris Aviators picked up 8 points to keep Paris atop of the leaderboard in the EurAsia Conference. Over in the Americas, Montreal Nationals held onto their first-place position fueled by a win from Xuan Liu.
The second week of 6-max matches in the Global Poker League went off without any major issues. In the EurAsian Conference, it was a good day for Dominik Nitsche of the Berlin Bears. He picked up 12 total points for Berlin with a victory in the opening match and a second-place finish in the second match. However, Mike Leah from the Paris Aviators earned 8 points overall with a runner-up finish and third-place finish, which helped Paris maintain its first-place lead of 4 points over the Honk Kong Stars. In the Americas Conference, Xuan Liu from Montreal Nationals won one match and earned 8 overall points on the day for Montreal, who holds a 2-point lead over the Las Vegas Moneymakers at the top of their standings.
In the opening match of the EurAsia Conference, the Berlin Bears secured 7 points with a victory by Dominik Nitsche, who defeated Paris Aviators Mike Leah heads-up with A-Q vs K-10. Mike Leah's runner-up finish locked up 5 points for Paris. In the second match of the EurAsia Conference, Vladimir Troyanovskiy from the Moscow Wolverines defeated Berlin's Dominik Nitsche heads-up to seal the victory and pick up 7 points. Meanwhile, Nitsche added another 5 points to the Bears total with second place. Short-stacked Nitsche got it all in with A-6 vs. Qs-4s, however Troyanovskiy rivered a Queen to send Nitsche packing.
Over in the Americas Conference, it was an awesome day for the ladies with 6-max victories by both Kitty Kuo (San Francisco Rush) and Xuan Liu (Montreal Nationals). The San Francisco Rush netted 9 overall points after a victory by Kuo in the first match and 4th place finish in the second. Meanwhile, it was a rough day for the New York Rounders after Kevin MacPhee busted in 6th place in both events. New York notched a big fat donut.
San Francisco Rush's Kitty Kuo defeated Joao Pires Simao from the San Paolo Mets in a lengthy first match. Kuo's Q-4 came from behind to beat Simao's K-10 and open-ended straight draw. In the second match, Xaun Liu knocked off LA Sunset's Chance Kornuth. Liu flushed out Kornuth with Kc-10c versus A-9. Liu turned the flush and sent Kornuth to the rail in second. Liu finished in 5th in the first match and earned a single point, but the victory in the second match meant Liu locked up 8 points for Montreal.
