The 2024 EPT Monte Carlo Main Event attracted 1,208 entrants this year and a total prize pool worth over €5.8 million. Derk van Luijk from the Netherlands rode a tsunami of good fortune on the way to his victory worth €1 million. He defeated Boris Angelov heads up for the Main Event title. In addition, Patrik Antonius shipped the 2024 EPT Monte Carlo €100K Super High Roller for €1.97 million.

Sometimes the poker gods are on your side. In the case of one fortuitous Dutchman, the gambling deities showered Derk van Luijk with a tsunami of good luck during the 2024 EPT Monte Carlo Main Event.
Back in the day, the EPT Monte Carlo used to be called the Grand Finale that capped off each season of the European Poker Tour. These days, the EPT Monte Carlo is still one of the most important events on the schedule. The 2024 Main Event had a €5,300 buy-in and attracted 1,208 total entries, which set a venue record. This year's gigantic field generated a prize pool worth €5,858,800. Only the top 176 places paid out with a cool million set aside for the champion.
The final table included players from eight different countries and featured Derk van Luijk from the Netherlands, Boris Angelov (Bulgaria), Rania Nasreddine (USA), Jovan Kenjic (Serbia), Jonathan Pastore (France), Niclas Thumm (Germany), Jonathan Guedes (Brazil) and Jozef Cibicek (Slovakia).
Derk van Luijk ran hotter than the sun and caught too many well timed cards to count. He rallied from behind in an epic heads-up battle to deny Bulgaria's Boris Angelov the EPT Main Event title.
Spanish pro Adrian Mateos missed the final table when he bid adieu in 11th place.

Meanwhile... what's Monte Carlo without some deep-pocketed, high-roller action? Patrik Antonius shipped the 2024 EPT Monte Carlo €100K Super High Roller for a score worth €1,967,440. The total prize pool fell just short of €7 million. Finland's Antonius outlasted a field of 24 runners (with 24 re-entries) and edged out German pro Christoph Vogelsang heads up for the SHR title. The rest of the stacked €100K SHR final table included Juan Pardo, Ben Heath, Jean-Noel Thorel, David Yan, and Stephen Chidwick.
The 2024 EPT Monte Carlo €25K High Roller attracted 189 initial entries and 58 re-entries for a prize pool worth over €5.9 million. Players from nine different countries were among the final nine players. Luca Marki from Switzerland was the last player standing after he cut a heads-up deal with Colombia's Mauricio Sanchez. Marki won over €1.08 million while Sanchez locked up €950K as part of their deal. The rest of the final six included Kayhan Mokri, Mas Oya, Sergey Lebedev, and Pedro Neves.
