Jared Jaffee claimed a second WPT title when he won the 20233 WPT Choctaw for a score worth $400,740 after he outlasted a field of 612 players. Bin Weng banked over $1.1 million when he was the last player standing in the 2023 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. Finally, Ky Nguyen aka Suited Superman shipped the 2023 WPT Gardens Poker Championship for a $357,380 score.

The Godfather of Poker, Doyle Brunson, passed away on Sunday. The legendary Texas Dolly won 10 bracelets at the World Series of Poker, and shipped the Main Event twice in back-to-back years in 1976 and 1977. Brunson played professionally for over a half of a century, and he became the first poker player to surpass $1 million in tournament winnings. He also authored the seminal poker strategy book titled “Super/System: A Course in Power Poker.”

American pro Jason Koon won a sixth Triton high roller title with a victory at the 2023 Triton Super High Roller Series Cyprus. Koon outlasted a field of 138 runners to win $663,000 in a Seven-Max NL Higher Roller. He now has a two-win lead in Triton events over Mikita Badziakouski.

Canadian pro Mike Watson came the third player in EPT history to win two events when he emerged as the last player standing at the 2023 EPT Monte Carlo Main Event. Watson outlasted a field of 1,098 runners and edged out Germany's Leonard Maue in a heads-up chop to win €749,425. Watson secured a second EPT title to go along with his epic run at the 2016 PCA Main Event in the Bahamas.

The 2023 EPT Monte Carlo is underway and Bulgaria's Alex Kulev outlasted a tough field of 29 runners (plus 8 re-entries) and won the €100K Super High Roller. Kulev picked off Mikita Badziakouski after the two agreed to a heads-up chop. Kulev won the Super High Roller title and banked €1,036,287 for the win.

Several noteworthy names took down events at the 2023 US Poker Open at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas. Phil Hellmuth won Event #5 $10,000 NL with a straight flush. Isaac Kempton won Event #6 $15,000 PLO for $279,000, Darrien Elias binked Event #7 $15,000 NL for a $313,200, and Ike Haxton shipped Event #8 $25,000 NL for $423,000.

British banker and poker pro Talal Shakerchi outlasted a stacked final table to win the $100,000 buy-in Main Event at the 2023 Triton Super High Roller Series Vietnam at the Hoiana Resort & Golf in Quang Nam. Shakerchi defeated Michael Soyza heads-up to secure his largest score to date with a first-place prize worth $3,250,000.

The European Poker Tour hosted the inaugural EPT Paris at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile. The €5,300 buy-in Main Event at the EPT Paris attracted 1,606 entrants with 447 re-entries. The 2023 WSOP features 95 live bracelet events, and 34 online bracelet events with 20 up for grabs on the virtual felt in Nevada/New Jersey, seven in Michigan, and seven in Pennsylvania.

Portugal's Michel Dattani and Pedro Neves chopped the 2023 PCA $10,300 Main Event during the epic return of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. Neves banked $1,183,037 for second place, and Dattani won $1,316,963 and the coveted trophy for first place after the two Portuguese players outlasted a field of 889 entrants.

After a seven-year layoff, PokerStars will relaunch the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT). The LAPT returns to Brazil with a stop in Rio de Janeiro on March 2, 2023. There will be an event in Montevideo, Uruguay in April, plus two more events planned in Sao Paolo, Brazil in July and November. And there's other LAPT dates and locations that will be announced soon.

PokerStars announced their 2023 live tournament events schedule for the European Poker Tour which includes five stops including two first-time destinations. The EPT kicks off in February 2023 with their EPT Paris debut. In the fall, the EPT heads to the EPT Cyprus for the first time. There's also usual stops at the EPT Monte-Carlo, EPT Barcelona, and the EPT Prague.
