File this one under "man bites dog." Jason Mercier won another High Roller event. Mercier earned a first-place payout worth nearly $795K for winning the $25K High Roller Event at the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. Mercier faded a field of 116 runners. The total prize pool was $2.9 million. Mercier defeated ZeeJustin heads up for the win. Also at the final table... Loni Harwood, Tony Spinella, Olivier Busquet, Sam Soveral, Bryn Kenney, and Ari Engel.
Chalk up another big win for Jason Mercier. The American pro, who grew up in Florida, took down a 25K High Roller event in his home state. Lucky for Mercier, both Fedor Holz and Steve O'Dwyer were still in Asia, so this High Roller title was all his to take.
The 25K buy-in High Roller event was one of the marquee tournaments at the 2017 Seminole Hard Poker Poker Showdown hosted at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
This high-roller affair attracted 116 runners. They boosted the prize pool to almost $3 million (the total was $2.9M). Jason Mercier defeated Justin Bonomo heads-up for the title...and you know Bonomo really really really wanted to beat Mercier, the poster boy for PokerStars. ZeeJustin has had lots of ZeeBeef with Stars ever since they unleashed their controversial revamping of their VIP and loyalty program.
Among the notables aside from Mercier cashing in this event... Erik Seidel, Jeff Gross, Jonathan Little, Olivier Busquet, Ari Engel, and Loni Harwood, Tony Spinella, Sam Soveral, and Bryn Kenney.
