    News RIP Mike Sexton, Poker's Greatest Ambassador The poker world is mourning the loss of one of its greatest ambassadors and beloved players. Mike Sexton passed away at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer. Sexton loved the game of poker and he sought to share his love of the game with people all over the world. Sexton won over $6.7 million in live tournaments and unknown millions in cash games, including a WSOP bracelet in 1989. Sexton also won an event on the WPT in 2016. Sexton is widely known as an announcer for the World Poke Tour. He inspired people to become better players, but more importantly Sexton inspired pros to become better people.

    News Jake Schindler, Davidi Kitai, and Sam Greenwood win high rollers in Barcelona Barcelona has been the hotspot of poker for the last week or so. partypoker LIVE hosted three high roller events at their MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona. Over the weekend, Belgian pro Davidi Kitai shipped the €25K High Roller for €700,000. Canada's Sam Greenwood won the €50K for a cool million. And yesterday, American pro Jake Schindler sniffed out Stevie Chidwick's bluff to win the €100K Super High Roller for a score worth €1,750,000. Schindler is now closing in on $18 million in career tournament earnings.

    Breaking News Pennsylvania passes gambling bill to legalize online poker Pennsylvania is on the verge of becoming the fourth state in the USA to legalize online poker. This week, the state senate and state house both passed a special gaming bill, H 271, that would legalize online casinos, daily fantasy sports, and online poker. Governor Tom Wolf has ten days to sign the bill into law. Pennsylvania is the sixth largest state in the US and online gaming revenue is projected at $250 million a year. Currently only three states permit online poker: Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. All three reached a shared player pool agreement with the assumption that other states could/would join.

In a moment of weakness, Eddie “borrows” money from the bag and goes on a losing gambling bender. When his friend is released from prison several months early, Eddie has to quickly figure out a way to recoup his losses in excess of $21,000.

    Breaking News James Romero wins $1.9 million and the WPT Five Diamond Classic James Romero knocked out four out of five opponents at the final table of the WPT Bellagio Final Diamond Classic to lock up his first-ever victory on the World Poker Tour.     Breaking News Old Las Vegas: Final tower of Riviera Casino imploded RIP Riviera Hotel and Casino. After sixty years of business, the Riviera is officially dunzo. The final tower was demolished last night and the event occurred without the fanfare and celebration that accompanied the initial demolition several months earlier. In June 2016, the majority of the property including the Monaco Tower was detonated amidst a rowdy celebration that also included fireworks. After struggling for almost two decades, the Riviera shut its doors in May 2015. The Las Vegas Convention Center purchased the land and will be utilizing the space as part of their expansion.

    News California Online Poker: Time running out on AB 2863 The future of online poker in California is on the clock. Last minute adjustments to online poker bill AB2863 were added in attempts to get a bill passed before the state legislature adjourns on August 31. The recent amendments include a flat tax of 10% on all poker websites, plus a five-year wait for anyone deemed a bad actor. The anti-PokerStars coalition of Indian tribes sought to keep PokerStars in the penalty box for five years before the can operate legally in California. The PokerStars coalition, which includes major L.A.-based card rooms like the Bicycle, Commerce, and Hawaiian Gardens along with the Morongo and San Manuel Mission tribes, are vehemently opposed to the 11th hour amendments. Both sides are iffy on whether or not the bill will pass in its current form. But time is running out. Will AB 2863 go to vote? Or will it die on the floor, like previous i-poker bills?
