News 2023 WSOP: Brian Rast ships third $50K Poker Players Championship American pro Brian Rast notched his sixth WSOP bracelet after winning the $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship for a third time. Rast edged out Talal Shakerchi to win 2023 WSOP Event #43 $50,000 Poker Players Championship and $1,324,747 in cash. Earlier in the week, Chris Brewer took down Event #40 $250,000 NL High Roller for $5,293,556 after he outlasted a field of 69 entries.

News 2021 WSOP: John Monnette denies Nate Silver gold bracelet The 2021 WSOP had a stacked final table in Event #16 $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship, when John Monnette won his fourth-career bracelet by defeated Nate Silver heads-up for the gold bracelet and $245,680. The $10K LHE final table also included Eric Kurtzman, Terence Chan, Jason Somerville, John Racener, Scott Tuttle, and Chris Chung. In the other LHE event, Israel's Yuval Bronshtein won his second bracelet with a victory in Event #12 $1,500 Limit Hold'em for a $125K score.

Karas is known on both poker and gambling circles for a notorious run in which he started with $50 and ran it up to the millions during the greatest winning streak in Las Vegas gambing history. Some say $20 million. Or $30 million. Or $40 million. Even Karas doesn't know the official amount because in the end, he went broke and busto. News RIP Mike Sexton, Poker's Greatest Ambassador The poker world is mourning the loss of one of its greatest ambassadors and beloved players. Mike Sexton passed away at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer. Sexton loved the game of poker and he sought to share his love of the game with people all over the world. Sexton won over $6.7 million in live tournaments and unknown millions in cash games, including a WSOP bracelet in 1989. Sexton also won an event on the WPT in 2016. Sexton is widely known as an announcer for the World Poke Tour. He inspired people to become better players, but more importantly Sexton inspired pros to become better people.

News Sahara Casino in Las Vegas re-opens their poker room Poker returns to the historic Sahara Casino after a nine-year hiatus. The Sahara branding returned to the property in August 2019 after five years as the SLS. Six months after the Sahara reboot, the new seven-table poker room opened with a soft launch on February 14. The swanky poker room will cater to locals with a better overall poker experience, plus free parking with less than a five-minute walk to the newest room on the Strip in almost a decade.

News RIP Gavin Smith Canadian poker pro Gavin Smith passed away in his sleep at the age of 50. Smith won a WPT title at the Mirage in 2005 and won his first WSOP bracelet in 2010. Smith banked over $6.3 million in tournaments. The magnanimous Smith was an integral part of Poker Road Radio during the peak of the online poker boom. Smith is currently ranked #11 on the all-time Canada money list.

News Phil Hellmuth Wins Heads-Up Title at Borgata Winter Poker Open Phil Hellmuth defeated six players in heads-up matches to win the Borgata Winter Poker Open heads-up title in Atlantic City, NJ. Hellmuth outlasted 64 players in Event #16 $1,590 NL Heads-Up to win $37,248. Olivier Busquet went deep but he finished in fourth place. Hellmuth is closing in on $23 million in career earnings.

News Pascal Lefrancois wins partypoker LIVE Millions Barcelona for €1.7 million It wasn't an ordinary Sunday in Barcelona with millions in Euros on the line for eight hopefuls. The 2018 partypoker LIVE Millions Barcelona Main Event was awarding at least three payouts worth seven-figures. The 10,300 buy-in affair attracted 1,175 players. The total prize pool nearly passed €11.4 million. Canadian pro Pascal Lefrancois defeated Adam Owen heads-up to win the title and €1.7 million. Owen banked €1.3 million as the consolation prize.
