Qui Nguyen wins 2016 WSOP Main Event and $8 million

After a three-plus month delay and three days of final table action for the November Nine, the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event is finally over. Qui Nguyen is the newest WSOP Main Event World Champion after he defeated Gordon Vayo during a marathon-heads up battle at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas. Qui Nguyen, a 39-year old pro who emigrated to the United States from Vietnam, currently lives in Las Vegas. He edged out the 27-year old Vayo during a seven-hour long heads-up match that spanned 182 hands and seemed like it would never end. Vayo earned a runner-up finish worth $4.6 million. November Nine chipleader Cliff ‘JohnnyBax' Josephy busted in third place and took home $3.4 million.
