Bellagio poker room robbed

The poker room at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas got robbed… in broad daylight… without anyone getting injured. At 3:50pm PT, an armed and masked gunman robbed the cage in the back of the poker room. He quickly exited out the North Valet. The suspect is still on the loose. This incident occurred nearly seven years after the Biker Bandit robbed a craps table at 4am for a $1.5 million haul. The Bellagio Biker Bandit was eventually caught.

Sam Greenwood wins Millions Main Event

Sam Greewood banked $1 million in Punta Cana after he took down the Millions Main Event at the 2017 Caribbean Poker Party Festival. Greenwood outlasted a field of 1,061 runners to win the Main Event, which had over $5.1 million in prize money and a guaranteed first-place payout of $1 million. Also at the final table were... Felipe Ramos, Jiri Horak, Jonas Gjelstad, and Andrey Sharilov.

Phil Ivey joins poker crypto site Virtue Poker

Cryptocurrencies are all the rage right now. Bitcoin passed the $8K barrier and if you're an avid follower of the poker community on social media, then you know many well-known pros went all-in on various cryptocurrencies. A couple of online poker rooms supported by cryptocurrencies have popped up. Virtue Poker, a new site with a launch date for the tail end of 2018, added Phil Ivey as an advisor.

WSOP Europe: Marti Roca De Torres from Spain wins Main Event for €1.1M score

We had early fireworks at the final table of the WSOP Europe Main Event during a double elimination that knocked out two of the favorites: Maria Ho and Niall Farrell. Ho busted in sixth place and 25K High Roller champ Farrell was knocked out in fifth place during a three-way hand against Marti Roca De Torres' pocket Aces. The finale came down to a heads-up battle between Italy and Spain. After a grueling match, Spain prevailed when Marti Roca De Torres defeated Gianluca Speranza heads-up for the victory. Marti Roca De Torres shipped €1.1 million for first place, plus the coveted Main Event bracelet. Italy's Speranza earned a runner-up prize worth €689,246.

Two more bracelet winners were crowned at the King's Casino in Rozvadov. The 2017 WSOP Europe 25K High Roller featured the usual high-balling crowd. Scotland's Niall Farrell defeated Benjamin Pollack heads-up for the High Roller bracelet and €745,287 in cash. After several near misses, Farrell finally shipped a bracelet after being a bridesmaid twice in Vegas. Farrell is now a member of the Triple Crown club. Meanwhile, Matous Skorepa from the Czech Republic outlasted a field of 4,115 runners to win Event #5 €550 NL The COLOSSUS. Skorepa earned a first-place payday worth €270K.
