The Biggest Bluff: How I Learned to Pay Attention, Master Myself, and Win by Maria Konnikova

Journalist and author, Maria Konnikova, recently published a new book about her experiences learning poker and taking down a big event in the Bahamas. Erik Seidel took Maria Konnikova under his wing and a short time, she became a decent poker player en route to a victory in a side event at the 2018 PCA for $84K. She chronicled her experiences in a non-fiction book published by Penguin titled 'The Biggest Bluff: How I Learned to Pay Attention, Master Myself, and Win'.

GG Poker releases full 2020 WSOP schedule

GGPoker released their schedule for 54 events for the 2020 World Series of Poker Online, which begins July 16 and ends on September 6 for international players. The buy-ins range from $100 to $25,000. The Main Event as a $5,000 buy-in with a $25 million guaranteed prize pool and 22 opening flights. There's also the $25K Poker Players Championship and several People's Choice events. In an increased security measure, players must play under their own names at GGPoker.

Atlantic City casinos reopen on July 2 with masks mandatory

Gambling will return to the Garden State in July. Governor Phil Murphy gave Atlantic City the go ahead to reopen as early as July 2 at 25% capacity and everyone must wear masks. The Borgata, the jewel of AC, will wait until after the Fourth of July holiday to reopen on July 6. New Jersey was one of the hardest hit states at the onset of the coronavirus outbreak in the New York City tri-state area.

PokerStars introduces Stadium Series tournaments

PokerStars decided to combine sports, live sports, and poker all in one format with the newly added Stadium Series. This summer, PokerStars will host a series with $50 million in guaranteed prize pools with 103 events spread out over four weeks starting on 5 July and ending on 2 August. Players will compete in daily heats to see if they qualify for the Sunday finales. The final tables will be broadcast on Twitch. At the end of the Stadium Series, there's the Grand Final on August 2 with a $5,200 buy-in and $5 million guaranteed.

Cameo, a cool app and website that allows celebrities to give you a quick video message for a nominal fee, has risen in popularity over the past year. During the coronavirus pandemic, many celebrities headed to Cameo to raise money for various charities, or to even help make a quick buck during a downturn in the economy. Poker pros have popped up on Cameo including Phil Hellmuth, Joe Hachem, Antonio Esfandiari, Jonathan Little, Jeff Gross, and Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow.

Poker room at the Bellagio in Vegas and Bicycle Casino in LA finally reopen

After being shut down since March, poker rooms at two of the most popular card rooms in America return to action. The Bellagio poker room reopened on Thursday, while the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles opened its doors on Friday for the first time in over three months. While casinos and card rooms reopen, gamblers remain cautious with case surging and hotspots developing in SoCal, the Southwest, and Florida.

PokerStars revamps Home Games with new look, games, and features

It's been a while, but PokerStars Home Games got a much needed overhaul. After a significant number of Home Games were created during the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown, PokerStars finally addressed some of their biggest issues with the Home Games section. Players now have the opportunity to play Home Games on mobile devices. They also have the ability to try out other formats like Short Deck, Fusion, and PKO formats.

Daniel Negreanu $1 million WSOP bracelet prop bet

Two-time WSOP Player of the Year, Daniel Negreanu, is putting up $1 million on a World Series of Poker bracelet prop bet at 2.5 to 1 odds. Kid Poker seeks his first gold bracelet since 2013. He is hoping he finally strikes big this summer with the WSOP Online series at GGPoker, WSOP.com, or if the WSOP actually plays out at the Rio this fall. If he can win a bracelet, that's $2.5 million in his pocket.

Las Vegas Re-Opens as COVID-19 cases spike in the Southwest

Las Vegas casinos continue to reopen, including poker rooms, after being shut down since mid-March. Gamblers, mostly locals, flocked in droves during the first week of reopening, to whichever casinos opened back up all over town. More card rooms and casinos will be reopening despite the fact that COVID-19 cases are spiking in California and all over the southwest including Arizona and Texas.

Jungleman quits poker to take up improv and acting?

Dan 'Jungleman' Cates, arguably one of the top online poker players since the start of the glorious online poker boom at the turn of the century, decided to take an indefinite break from poker and pursue acting and improv in wake of a potential ghosting cheating scandal, that was initially brought to the public's consciousness after Bill Perkins hinted at cheating scandal involving a "Top 7" player. And of course, Dan Bilzerian confirmed it was Jungleman.

2020 WSOP goes online, 85 gold bracelets at GGPoker, WSOP.com

With live poker's future still a huge risk in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the World Series of Poker moved the 2020 WSOP online with 85 online bracelets up for grabs on either WSOP's online site or at GGPoker. On July 1, WSOP.com will host 31 gold bracelet online events to players in Nevada and New Jersey with one per day during the month. Starting July 19, GGPoker will host 50-plus online events for the rest of the world.

Mike Postle cheating case dismissed against Stones Gambling Hall

Judge William B. Shubb of the Eastern District of California released a 24-page opinion to dismiss the charges against a trio of defendants in the Mike Postle cheating case. Postle got caught winning $250,000 on live streams at the Stones Gambling Hall when Veronica Brill tipped off the poker community, who in turn did their due diligence and got to the bottom of the cheating scandal. Brill filed a lawsuit against Postle, poker rom manager Justin Kuraitis, and the Stones Gambling Hall (outside of Sacramento, California).

Las Vegas reopens amidst excitement and caution

All eyes were on Las Vegas at Midnight as several casino reopened for the first time in 78 days since Governor Sisolak shuttered all casinos in the state of Nevada at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in mid-March. Casinos on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas were among the first to open, along with locals' casinos in the burbs. The Bellagio reopened, and any more Strip casinos will open on Friday.

Viktor Blom ships 2, Artur Martirosian wins Super High Roller Bowl Online

Russia's Artur Martirosian cashed eight times for nearly $1.8 million to secure the leaderboard title at the 2020 Super High Roller Bowl Online. Martirosian edged out Vitkor Blom, who won two titles down the stretch and finished second overall. Martirosian won Event #16 $10K NL 6-Max and finished second a couple other times to top the leaderboard.
