The Godfather of Poker, Doyle Brunson, passed away on Sunday. The legendary Texas Dolly won 10 bracelets at the World Series of Poker, and shipped the Main Event twice in back-to-back years in 1976 and 1977. Brunson played professionally for over a half of a century, and he became the first poker player to surpass $1 million in tournament winnings. He also authored the seminal poker strategy book titled “Super/System: A Course in Power Poker.”

American pro Jason Koon won a sixth Triton high roller title with a victory at the 2023 Triton Super High Roller Series Cyprus. Koon outlasted a field of 138 runners to win $663,000 in a Seven-Max NL Higher Roller. He now has a two-win lead in Triton events over Mikita Badziakouski.

Canadian pro Mike Watson came the third player in EPT history to win two events when he emerged as the last player standing at the 2023 EPT Monte Carlo Main Event. Watson outlasted a field of 1,098 runners and edged out Germany's Leonard Maue in a heads-up chop to win €749,425. Watson secured a second EPT title to go along with his epic run at the 2016 PCA Main Event in the Bahamas.

The 2023 EPT Monte Carlo is underway and Bulgaria's Alex Kulev outlasted a tough field of 29 runners (plus 8 re-entries) and won the €100K Super High Roller. Kulev picked off Mikita Badziakouski after the two agreed to a heads-up chop. Kulev won the Super High Roller title and banked €1,036,287 for the win.

The 15^th running of the annual Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) returns to PokerStars starting on May 7 and running through the rest of the May. The 2023 SCOOP features 121 events with $75 million in guaranteed prize pools. As always there are three types of price points and buy-ins ranging from $2.20 to $25,000.

PokerStars has a couple of big events coming up in April. On April 16, global players will celebrate the 12^th birthday for the Sunday Storm tournament which includes a special $700,00 guarantee. On April 30, Americans will be treated to the Million Dollar Weekend with $1 million in guaranteed prize pools for shared liquidity states, and a special $500,000 guarantee for Pennsylvania.

Several noteworthy names took down events at the 2023 US Poker Open at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas. Phil Hellmuth won Event #5 $10,000 NL with a straight flush. Isaac Kempton won Event #6 $15,000 PLO for $279,000, Darrien Elias binked Event #7 $15,000 NL for a $313,200, and Ike Haxton shipped Event #8 $25,000 NL for $423,000.

The 2023 US Poker Open is underway at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas. Through four events, Ren Lin is in first place on the US Poker Open leaderboard with one win and three cashes. Joey Weissman shipped the first event with a victory in Event #1 $10,000 NL. Ren Lin took down Event #2 $10,000 NL, Sam Soverel binked Event #3 $10,000 NL, and Allen Le was the last player staring in Event #4 $10,000 PLO.

British banker and poker pro Talal Shakerchi outlasted a stacked final table to win the $100,000 buy-in Main Event at the 2023 Triton Super High Roller Series Vietnam at the Hoiana Resort & Golf in Quang Nam. Shakerchi defeated Michael Soyza heads-up to secure his largest score to date with a first-place prize worth $3,250,000.

PokerStars announced that the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) returns to American players in three states. The 2023 SCOOP has 42 events and the popular online tournament series will be available to PokerStars players on in Pennsylvania (PASCOOP) and a shared player pool in New Jersey and Michigan (MI/NJSCOOP) beginning March 17 and running through April 3. There's a total of $5 million in guanarteed prize pools.

The European Poker Tour hosted the inaugural EPT Paris at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile. The €5,300 buy-in Main Event at the EPT Paris attracted 1,606 entrants with 447 re-entries. Razvan Belea from Romania parlayed a €530 satellite seat into a €1.1 million payday when he was the last player standing to become the first Romanian champion in EPT history.

Finland's Patrik Antonius won a pot worth nearly $1.98 million pot on PokerGo's No Gamble, No Future stream. Antonius was involved in a multiway pot with casino owner Eric Persson during a hand of $1,000/$2,000 NL hold'em. Antonius doubled up and set a record for the largest cash-game pot in American televised poker history.

Aliaksandr Shylko from Belarus shipped the second-ever PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) for a $3.1 million score after he worked out a three-way money chop with Germany's Max Menzel and Philipe Pizzari from Brazil. Nacho Barbero went deep in the 2023 PSPC with a fourth-place finish at Baha Mar in the Bahamas. Shylko outlasted 1,014 runners who generated a prize pool worth over $24.8 million

The World Series of Poker returns for its 54^th installment and its second year on the Las Vegas Strip at Paris and the newly branded Horseshoe Casino. The 2023 WSOP features 95 live bracelet events, and 34 online bracelet events with 20 up for grabs on the virtual felt in Nevada/New Jersey, seven in Michigan, and seven in Pennsylvania.

Portugal's Michel Dattani and Pedro Neves chopped the 2023 PCA $10,300 Main Event during the epic return of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. Neves banked $1,183,037 for second place, and Dattani won $1,316,963 and the coveted trophy for first place after the two Portuguese players outlasted a field of 889 entrants.

After a seven-year layoff, PokerStars will relaunch the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT). The LAPT returns to Brazil with a stop in Rio de Janeiro on March 2, 2023. There will be an event in Montevideo, Uruguay in April, plus two more events planned in Sao Paolo, Brazil in July and November. And there's other LAPT dates and locations that will be announced soon.

Germany's Blackbeaty won the Sunday Million's 16^th anniversary special.

Eliot Hudon from Montreal, Quebec, Canada outlasted a record-setting field of 2,960 runners to win the 2022 World Poker Tour Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas for a score worth $4.1 million. Hudon outlasted a final table that included Benny Glaser, J.C. Moussa, Adam Adler, Frank Funaro, and Colton Blomberg.

The World Series of Poker returns to the Paris Casino and newly branded Horseshoe Casino on the Las Vegas Strip next summer. The 2023 WSOP kicks off May 30 and runs through July 18 with the 54^th version of the iconic tournament series. The 2023 WSOP $10,000 buy-in Main Event begins July 3.
