The holiday season is upon us. PokerStars will celebrate the end of the year and the holiday season with 60 events and 240 tournaments for the Winter Series starting on December 23 and running through January 7. The Winter Series has four levels with different buy-ins for players with varying bankrolls with events at Micro, Low, Medium, and High. There will be $40 million in guaranteed prize pools. The Main Event Medium and High will both have $1.5 million guarantees. Buy-ins for the Winter Series will range from $0.55 to $5,200.

Ho ho ho ho. It's the holiday season. Whether you celebrate the holidays (pick one: Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanza, St. Carini, or Festivus) or love to get into the holidaze spirit, there's some great poker action for you. Or if you're like me and have a crazy family that you want to get away from, then spend the last days of 2018 at the virtual tables at the PokerStars Winter Series. Or kick off the new year with some poker action. Or drown your crypto bad beat sorrows in a little online poker action.
What is the Winter Series? It's a series of poker that's hosted during the winter. I love simple branding but there's nothing simple about a winter festival of poker featuring 60 events and 240 tournaments of various sizes to play over a 16-day span. This year's installation of the Winter Series has over $40 million in guaranteed prize pools. And there even might be some last second Platinum Passes in play. Don't quote me on that one, but you never know. Right?
The Winter Series has everything you expect in a regular tournament series. There's PLO, 4-Max Hyper-Turbos, Deep Stacks, 6-Max, old-school Rebuys, PKOs, Turbos, 6-Max Hyper-Turbos, Turbo PKOs, Hyper-Turbo shootouts, 6-Max Turbos, Comet, Blitzen, Rudolph, Tony G, and a partridge in a pear tree.
For you high ballas, there's a $5,200 High Roller on the Winter Series schedule. The 8-max event has a $500K Guarantee. Winter Series Event #39 - High will run on January 2. Don't miss out. Even if you rage it up on New Year's Eve, you still have an extra day to sleep off your bender and be fresh for the High Roller on Wednesday January 2.
Oh, and January 6 is an important holiday and it's the penultimate day of the Winter Series that features four Main Event championship events. The Main Event High will have a $2,100 buy-in and a $1.5 million guarantee. The Main Event Medium has a $215 buy-in and also has a $1.5 million guarantee. There's also a Micro Main and a Low Main.
As expected, there will be satellites to the Winter series and entry via Special Spin & Go's and Phase Tournaments. The Phases start as low as $2.20.
And I'm cutting and pasting this directly from PokerStars: Special Spin & Go's! For a limited time, play special Spin & Go's and you could win a Winter Series Main Event entry worth $2,100! Buy-in for either $2.50 or $20 and beat just two opponents for a chance to win cash, tickets or entry to the massive Main Event on January 6.
There's also a $25,000 Freeroll. You can win your ticket to the freeroll by completing specific challenges. If you complete all of the missions, you will earn your special freeroll ticket.
