PokerStars is hosting a star-studded charity poker tournament to assist coronavirus relief. The 'Stars CALL for Action' takes place on Saturday, May 9 starting at 2pm ET and it will be available to watch on multiple platforms including Facebook, Twitch, and YouTube. There will be over $1 million (to charity) up for grabs. Some of the stars slated to play are 'Rounders' screenplay co-writer, Brian Koppleman, and a well-known Hollywood stars such as Don Cheadle, Jon Hamm, Jason Alexander, and the guy who played Ross from 'Friends'.

Coronavirus has been quite an unexpected event that spun all of us into a Ground Hog's day like daze that's both weird and dystopian at the same time. Many of us were not prepared or ill equipped to handle the pandemic and ensuing lockdowns. While everyone stayed at home to self-quarantine and help do their share in preventing the spread of COVID-19, a significant amount of people lost their jobs and main sources of income. In addition, medical facilities are overrun and under-supplied while doctors and nurses are on the front lines and risking their own safety every single day.
Luckily, the kindness of strangers often helps the world get through the dark times. It's never been darker than right now as the globe has been wrecked by the coronavirus.
PokerStars has always chipped in when things went sideways during a natural disaster like a tsunami, earthquakes, and hurricanes. Once again, PokerStars will be doing their part during this pandemic by donating well over $1 million through this special charity tournament. It's a drop in the bucket in the bigger scheme of things, but at least it's something positive and something to look forward to.
Stars CALL for Action is an online celebrity poker tournament with proceeds going towards CARE International and the eventual tournament champion's choice of charity. The event will begin on Saturday, May 9 at 2pm ET or 11am Vegas time. You can watch the action on various platforms with live streams appearing on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook.
PokerStars Ambassador Lex Veldhuis and James Hartigan will host the special CALL for Action tournament.
The field will be divided into celebrities and fans. Both will play down to a single final table and then those two tables will merge and play down to a winner. That's a surefire way to have some big celebs still alive at the final table.
So, which of the Hollywood gambling elite will be playing in this special event? I'm glad you asked because some of my all-time favorite thespians will be participating. If you love comedies and TV sitcoms, then you're in luck because George from Seinfeld and Jeff from Curb Your Enthusiasm will both be playing along side Ross from Friends, Malcom's dad from Malcolm in the Middle, and the tall loud dude from Everyone Loves Raymond.
Okay, so who's really playing?
The list of celebrities includes two well-known writers with Brian Koppleman ('Rounders', 'Billions) and Andy Bellin ('Poker Nation' author). Funny woman Amy Schumer will be attending and hopefully pounding wine while playing.
Also appearing... Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Hank Azaria (The Simpsons), Michael Cera (Arrested Development), Don Cheadle (Boogie Nights), Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Eric Bogosian (Uncut Gems), Brad Garrett (Everyone Loves Raymond), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Ed Norton (Fight Club), Kevin Pollack (Unusual Suspects), David Schwimmer (Band of Brothers), Tony Yazbeck (On the Town), and Michael Ian Black.
So do not forget to check out your favorite platform (Facebook, Twitch, YouTube) for celebrity online poker with some of your favorites stars.
I dunno about you, but I totally want to see Don Draper set mine Ross from Friends who think's he's golden with two pair. I'd like to see Amy Schumer shit-talk Cheadle. And maybe the guys involved in Rounders --- Koppleman and Worm -- will try to knock each other out.
