Chino Rheem is going for the hat trick down in Florida! The latest stop on the World Poker Tour is at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. The SHR Poker Finale attracted 342 players to this $10,000 buy-in event. With $705K on the line for first place, will Chino Rheem (and his scores of backers and creditors) take down his third-career win on the WPT? Or will it get shipped by Bryan Piccioli, Richard Leger, Adrian Mateos, William Benson, or Aditya Prasetyo? The final table commences on Thursday and will be webcast with hole cards on a 30-minute delay.
Right now there's a score of pros boarding South Florida-bound flights at LAX in Los Angeles and McCarran Airport in Las Vegas because they have a chance to finally collect an outstanding debt from Chino Rheem. Much like coke-hoovering Stu Ungar at his low point, whenever a huge degen like Chino makes a high-profile final table, he always draws a big crowd comprised of fans, friends, and a long line of creditors and backers. Chino has a notorious history of borrowing money from anyone who will loan it to him, so suffice to say, there will be a long-ass line waiting for him at the cage once he cashes out.
No pressure down in Florida! Chino Rheem is trying to make history with his third WPT win and keep his creditors off his back in one full swoop. Only five players stand in between Chino Rheem and first-place at the Seminole Hard Rock for their Poker Finale. Only three players in the history of the WPT have shopped three events and that short list includes Anthony Zinno, Carlos Mortensen and Gus Hansen. Oh ya, the Great Dane himself! It's dubious distinction, but well within reach for Chino Rheem.
Chino will begin the final day with a 3.4M stack, or second best overall trailing Richard Leger's 4M big stack. Meanwhile, Bryan Piccioli is the shorty with 535K. There will be a day off before the final table resumes on Thursday at 11am local time or 8am Vegas time. There will be a webcast of the SHR final table with hole cards via a 30-minute delay featuring Tony Dunst on commentary duty.
